ALIVE is an acronym that stands for Adventure, Leadership, Individuality, Values and Empowerment. They are an organizational affiliate we work closely with at Rudy Massimo & Associates.
About 23 years ago, when I was the Executive Director of Camp Kawartha, I hired Jalynn Bosley, who is the Owner of ALIVE Outdoors, to oversee our Leadership in Training program. A few years later, Jal came to visit me in my Toronto office. By then, I had left Camp Kawartha and was the Executive Director of Outward Bound. Jal wanted some advice on starting an outdoor education company. I still remember our chat and her desire to build a purposeful life for herself and for others. She asked me, "Do you think there is room in the market for another outdoor company?" I loved her commitment to others and wanting to turn her dream into a reality, despite not having any formal business training. I think I said something like, "I don't think you will ever get as big as Outward Bound, but there is definitely room for other outdoor adventure organizations in the country." Well, this marks their 21st year in business and they have been trailblazers ever since.
ALIVE typically teaches character, life competencies and self-awareness through wilderness expeditions, trips to Outdoor Centres, and international trips to destinations like The Kingdom of Bhutan. As you can imagine, they have had to make a shift in order to navigate this wild time in all of our lives. They have created a few online team building/community connection programs, and have already successfully facilitated these programs for over 4000 students and educators across North America.
Today, I would like to highlight one of their programs, called Grade Quest, which is aimed at helping students wrap up their year in a fun, celebratory and meaningful way despite the pandemic. If your school is looking for an exciting way to end your school year, or to kick off next year focused on connection, communication, legacy and laughter, then please check out ALIVE's temporary website which they have put together to highlight their online programs.

With Thanks,
Rudy
